ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS
Every Sunday 09:15am
This group is exactly what it says it is - an absolute complete beginners group. You barely need to know how to tie your shoelaces! It is intended for anyone who can’t even run a mile or is particularly nervous about twisting their ankle running on their own on uneven terrain. You do not have to have ever run. It is an introduction to running off road and the distance will never be more than 1-2 miles. If you can run 3 miles, this group isn’t for you. Be in safe hands whilst guided on a gentle off road path, Get shown tips on how to land your feet safely, how to understand the importance of weight shifting, improving your proprioception, tricks on how to avoid falling over and offer advice of kit. Come with the closest shoes you have to trail shoes. Trainers of any sort, will do. Do not worry too much about rushing out to buy any if you don’t already have some. You will be able to ask advice on the different models out there. As well as being off road, we will be exploring the South West Coast Path, Bridle ways, By Ways and Public footpaths. |
BEGINNERS
Every Sunday 10:30am
The Beginner Group is for anyone who can already run 3 miles on the road, but who has not run off road or has tried and either finds they fall over all the time, or ends up turning back. You will be given tips on technique to minimise injuries, slipping and falling/tripping as well as tricks on how to save a fall from becoming a face plant. You will also be introduced to hills and how not to dread them. Anyone can run a hill, it is all down to technique and breathing and you will enjoy the immense satisfaction you get when you reach the top. It can become an addiction! Above all, we will be out exploring less trodden footpaths, fields and countryside as well as the South West Coast Path and beaches and have a lot of fun doing so. |
PROGRESSIVE
Every Sunday 11:45am
The Progressive group means just that. It is a progressive group often with members who have moved up from the earlier Beginners group. This will be the only group where the miles may vary from week to week. You will be warned in advance of what the mileage will be and if you manage to make every session, the weeks should naturally progress, but you can still join in anytime if you miss a week. The terrain will be more technical and hilly than the beginners group, You will be expected to own trail shoes for this group and preferably some sort of backpack with hydration bladder. The Progressive Group is perfect for you if you are trying to work on your distance or need the motivation to add some miles to your week's run. Suitable for those who run at an easy relaxed pace and want to have fun. |
